There are a lot of benefits to adding strength training in to your exercise routines at least two or three days a week. Just to name a few benefits, adding it in to your routines can lead to decreased body fat, toned muscles, increased balance, and reduced risk of injury. By performing a few simple exercises you can increase muscle mass, which in turn will help the body burn calories more efficiently. Not only that, but it will help achieve a thinner look and help prevent muscle deterioration.
A few simple exercises that can be added to a general exercise routine are bicep curls and toe raises. The classic bicep curl can be one of the most efficient strengthening exercises for upper body as long as it’s performed correctly. Start out with one weight in each hand, with your palms facing inward. While slowly lifting them, rotate your palms so that when you have finished lifting the weights, your palms should face toward your shoulders and head. Toe raises are another simple exercise to strengthen the calf muscles. Toe raises basically require you to stand in place, lifting your heels off the ground and holding that position for five seconds before returning to your normal stance. Basically, you stand on your “tippy toes” without moving. This simple exercise helps to strengthen the calf muscle area, and is very effectively through repetitions.
There are plenty of other exercises to choose from, but regardless of which fits your preference, make sure not to over do it. Lift weights that you’re comfortable with, don’t try to lift ones that are too heavy for your current level. Adding simple exercises in to a daily routine can offer huge benefits to overall health and fitness.
